3.2.1 Creating NEs
1. Creating GNE
Step 1 2 3 Action Right-click in the blank space of the Main Topology and select Create > Topology Object from the shortcut menu. The Create Topology Object dialog box is displayed. Select the NE type from the Object Type tree. Complete the following information: ID, Extended ID, Name and Remarks. Choose Gateway Type, Protocol and set the IP address. For example: Remark

2. Creating Non-Gateway NE
Step 1 2 3 Action Right-click in the blank space of the Main Topology and select Create > Topology Object from the shortcut menu. The Create Topology Object dialog box is displayed. Select the NE type from the Object Type tree. Complete the following information: ID, Extended ID, Name and Remarks. Select Non-Gateway from the Gateway Type drop-down list. Select the GNE that the NE is affiliated to from the Affiliated Gateway drop-down list. For example: Remark

Enter the NE User and Password. Default NE user: root; Default password: password. Click OK. Click on the Main Topology and the NE icon is displayed in the position where you click.

3.2.2 Configuring NE Data


Step 1 2 Action Double-click the unconfigured NE on the Main Topology.The NE Configuration Wizard dialog box is displayed. Choose Manual Configuration and click Next. The Confirm dialog box appears telling you that manual configuration will clear the data on the NE side. Click OK. The Confirm dialog box appears telling you that manual configuration will interrupt the service on the NE. Click OK. The Set NE Attribute dialog box is displayed. Set NE Name, Equipment Type, NE Remarks and Subrack Type and then click Next. The NE slot window is displayed. Click Query Physical Slot(s) to query the physical boards of the NE. Remark

Right-click on the slot to delete the unused boards. Click Next to display the Send Configuration window. Choose Verify and Run as required and click Finish.

In the Clock View, right-click an NE icon and select Clock Source Priority List.

Click Query to query parameter settings. Click Create to display the Add Clock Source dialog box. Select a clock source and click OK. Optional: If an external clock source is selected, select External Clock Source Mode according to the type of external clock signals. For 2 Mbit/s clocks, specify the bytes to deliver SSM message. Select a clock source, and click or to adjust its priority level. Clock sources are arranged in a descending order. The upmost one is the preferred one for the NE. Internal clock sources have the lowest priority because of its low precision. Click Apply. Click Close.

3.2.5 Configuring Local Orderwire


Step Action In the NE Explorer, click the NE and select Configuration > Orderwire from the Function Tree. Click the General tab. Remark

3.2.6 Setting the NE Time


1. Synchronizing NE Time with the T2000 Server Automatically
Step 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Action Select Configuration > NE Time Synchronization from the Main Menu. Select the NEs in the left pane and click Set the Synchronous Mode parameter to NM and click Apply. Click Close when the success prompt appears. Set the Synchronize Starting Time and Synchronization Period (days) parameters in the lower pane. Click Apply. Click OK when a confirmation dialog box is displayed. Click Close in the Operation Result dialog box. Remark

2. Synchronizing NE Time with the T2000 Server Manually


Step 1 2 3 4 5 Action Select Configuration > NE Time Synchronization from the Main Menu. Select the NEs in the left pane and click Select one or more NEs in the list. Right-click and select Synchronize with NM Time from the shortcut menu. Click Yes in the prompt dialog box. Click Close in the Operation Result dialog box. Remark

3.2.7 Creating a Non-Protection Chain


Step 1 2 3 4 Action Select Configuration > Protection View from the Main Menu. In the Protection View, select Protection View > Create SDH Protection Subnet > NP Chain. The Wizard for Creating Chain Without Protection is displayed. Enter the name of the protection subnet. Select the rate of the protection subnet. For example: STM-16. Select the nodes contained in the non-protection chain to be created. Double-click the NE on the Protection View and add it to the left-hand node list. Meanwhile, is displayed on the NE icon. If you want to cancel the selection, double-click the NE again. Remark

Click Next to proceed to the Select Link screen of the wizard. Click Finish. The created protection subnet is displayed on the Protection View.

3.2.8 Configuring SDH Services in the End-to-End Mode


1. Creating a VC4 Server Trail
Step 1 2 Action Select Trail > SDH Trail Creation from the Main Menu. Set the service direction to Bidirectional and level to VC4 Server Trail. Remark

Double-click the source NE and the sink NE in turn. The automatically selected route is displayed between the NEs. 3

Optional: Click Set Route Timeslot. The Set Route Timeslot dialog box is displayed. Select the timeslot and click OK. Set the trail attributes such as Name, ID and Remarks. Check the Activate the trail check box. Optional: If you want to create multiple trails with the same route, check the Copy after Creation check box. Click Apply. A prompt appears telling you that the operation was successful. Click Close.

2. Creating a VC12/VC3 Trail


Step 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Action Select Trail > SDH Trail Creation from the Main Menu. Select the service direction according to the protection subnet type. Set the service level to VC12 or VC3. Double-click the source NE and the sink NE in turn. Select the port in the Select Board Port dialog box and click OK. The automatically selected trail is displayed between the NEs. Optional: Click Set Route Timeslot. The Set Route Timeslot dialog box is displayed. Select the timeslot and click OK. Set the trail attributes such as Name, ID and Remarks. Check the Activate the trail check box. Optional: If you want to create multiple trails with the same route, check the Copy after Creation check box. Click Apply. A prompt appears telling you that the operation was successful. Click Close. Remark

3.2.9 Configuring SDH Services Station by Station


Step 1 2 3 Action In the NE Explorer, click an NE and choose Configuration > SDH Service Configuration from the Function Tree. Click Query to query services from the NE. Click Create and the Create SDH Service dialog box is displayed. Remark

Complete the information as required. According to E1 services flow, complete the following configurations: Configure add or drop VC12 services at A-NE1: bidirectional services from l the tributary board to the SDH line board, with the source and the sink timeslots ranging from 1 to 5. Configure add or drop VC12 services at B-NE2: bidirectional services from l the SDH line board to the tributary board, with the source and the sink timeslots ranging from 1 to 5.

Click OK.

3.2.10 Searching for SDH Trails


Step 1 2 3 4 5 Action Select Trail > SDH Trail Search from the Main Menu. The SDH Trail Search wizard is displayed. Click Next to start the trail search. The search process will last for some time, wait until the search is complete as indicated by the progress bar, and then click Next to view the trail information. Click Next. Click Finish. Remark

3.2.11 Viewing SDH Trails


Step 1 2 3 4 5 Action Select Trail > SDH Trail Management from the Main Menu. The Set Trail Browse Filter Conditions dialog box is displayed. Set the filter conditions. Select a trail and its detailed information is displayed in the lower portion of the user interface. Optional: Click Alarm or Performance to view the alarm or performance information of the trail. Optional: Right-click a trail and select Query Relevant Client Trails from the shortcut menu. Remark

Optional: Right-click a trail and select Trail Use Information from the shortcut menu. The Trail Use Information dialog box is displayed. For a VC4 server trail, you can also view the information of associated VC3 and VC12 trails.

3.2.12 Deleting SDH Trails


Step 1 2 Action Select Trail > SDH Trail Management from the Main Menu. Select one or more SDH trails to delete, and right-click and select Deactivate from the shortcut menu. Select the Inactivate trails, select Delete from the shortcut menu. Remark

3.2.13 Setting Performance Monitoring


Step 1 2 3 4 Action Select Performance > NE Performance Monitor Time from the Main Menu. Select NEs from the NE list. Click the double-right-arrow button. Select one or more NEs, and set 15-minute and 24-hour performance monitor parameters as you need. Click Apply. Remark

3.2.14 Synchronizing Networkwide Current Alarms

3.2.15 Viewing Alarms


1. Viewing All Current Alarms of a Specified Severity Level
Step 1 Action Click the shortcut icon of alarm on the toolbar. All alarms of a certain severity level are displayed in the window that appears. If you want to display the latest alarms, check the Display the Latest Alarms check box. Optional: Select one or multiple alarms. Click Check to check the selected alarms. Click an alarm. The detailed alarm information and the cause for the alarm is displayed in the table as follows. Select one or multiple alarms and click Acknowledge, the Operation Result dialog box is displayed. Click Close. The Ack User and Ack Time columns display the corresponding values of the selected alarm. Click Save As to save the results to the directory whose path is specified. Remark

2. Viewing Current Alarms of a Single NE


Step 1 Action Right-click an NE icon on the Main Topology and choose Browse Current Alarms.The Browse Current Alarms window is displayed. Remark

3. Viewing Current Alarms of an SDH Trail


Step 1 2 3 Action Choose Trail > SDH Trail Management from the Main Menu. Click Filter All. Select one or more trails. Click the Alarm button and select Current Alarm from the dropdown list. The current alarms of all severity levels are shown in the list. Remark

4. Viewing History Alarms


Step 1 2 3 4 Action Select Fault > Browse History Alarms from the Main Menu. Select one or more NEs from the left-hand pane and click The history alarms of selected NEs for all severities are displayed. Select an alarm, the alarm details and alarm causes are shown in the panes below. Click Save As to save the results to the file in the specified destination on the client computer. Remark

5. Viewing Abnormal Events


Step 1 2 3 4 5 Action Select Fault > Browse Abnormal Events from the Main Menu. Select one or more NEs from the left-hand pane and click Click Filter and the Filter dialog box is displayed. Click in the Rising Time area to specify the time range. Select the event names in the lower list. Click OK. Click Save As to save the results to file in the specified directory on the client computer. Remark

Step 1 2 3 4 5 Action Select Performance > Browse SDH Performance from the Main Menu. Click the Current Performance Data tab. Select one or more NEs/boards in the left-hand pane, and click the double-right-arrow button (red). Complete the following information: Monitored Object Filter Condition, Monitor Period and Performance Event Type. Optional: In the Display Options group box, you can check Current Value or Maximum/Minimum Value. Click Query to query the data from the NE. Remark

2. Viewing History Performance Data


Step 1 2 3 4 5 Action Select Performance > Browse SDH Performance from the Main Menu. Click the History Performance Data tab. Select one or more NEs/boards in the lower-left pane, and click the double-right-arrow button (red). Complete the information: Monitored Object Filter Condition, Monitor Period, From, To, Data Source and Performance Event Type. Optional: In the Display Options group box, you can check Current Value or Maximum/Minimum Value. Click Query and the information is shown in the lower pane. Remark

3. Viewing Current Performance Data of an SDH Trail


Step 1 2 3 4 5 Action Select Trail > SDH Trail Management from the Main Menu. Click Filter All. Select one or more trails. Click the Performance button and select Query Performance from the drop-down list. Click the 15-Minute Current Performance or 24-Hour Current Performance tab. Click Query to refresh the information. Optional: Click Save As to save the result to the file in the specified destination on the client computer. Remark

5.2.7 Creating a 1+1 Linear MSP Chain


Step 1 2 3 Action Select Configuration > Protection View from the Main Menu. In the Protection View, select Protection View > Create SDH Protection Subnet > 1+1 linear MSP. The Wizard for Creating 1+1 Linear MSP Chain is displayed. Enter the name of the protection subnet. The default name is usually used, for example: 1+1_MSP_1. Select the rate of the protection subnet. For example: STM-16. Remark

Select the Revertive Mode and the Switching Mode as needed. Add nodes to the protection subnet to be created. Double-click the NE on the is displayed Protection View and add it to the left-hand node list. Meanwhile, on the NE icon. If you want to cancel the selection, double-click the NE again.
