The Palm Jumeirah, a palm treeshaped artificial island, is probably one of Dubais most ambitious building projects. The island will feature hotels, flats, marinas, leisure parks and modern shopping malls.

Advantages through ring section design

Drinking water for the residents comes from two seawater desalination plants. They use the reverse osmosis process to produce 32,000 m3 of pure water every day. Here too, the KSB design principle of our tried and tested radially split HGM-RO series high-pressure pumps won the day. This pump types special advantages are its ultra-smooth running properties, maintenance-friendliness and excellent efficiencies, which markedly reduce energy consumption. Together, they spell extremely low lifecycle costs (LCC). The core desalination process also uses powerful Omega and RPH-RO series pumps.

In addition, a total of 86 of our Isoria shut-off butterfly valves ensure reliable control of these enormous amounts of water. Their nominal diameters range from DN 150 to DN 1000.

The smooth interaction of our products in this system and the resulting high degrees of efficiency and reliability convinced our customers, and were key to winning the contract.
