Lake Countys Summer of Peace
The Summer of Peace will be hosting a fund raiser at the Soper-Reese on September 14th at 7pm offering a screening of Fambul Tok, multiple award-winning documentary about radical forgiveness being practiced in Sierra Leone in the aftermath of the brutal civil war where so many atrocities took place. This film is truly inspirational. The Lake County Summer of Peace is the first in California to be honored by the International Cities of Peace as part of a global celebration throughout all continents, the largest call to peace in the history of mankind. This 90-day Festival of events was launched on June 22 and will officially end on September 21, 2012, the International Day of Peace as declared by the U.N. in 1984 with ceremonies in Lakeports Library Park at 4 pm and Clearlakes Austin Park at 7 pm. There may be a few residual programs that follow after Septemer 21, as we go into a fall and winter of celebration of peace in our own ways. For more information visit: LakeCountySummerofPeace.com
