CONFERENCE
Man no longer exists for himself, nor do nations exist for their selfish interests. The effort of the world today is to make all human families march together and in cooperation and not against one another. Justice M. Hidayatullah
The Conference
The United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of byline Refugees (CRSR) is the cornerstone of refugee rights and duties that [Name] are cast upon those nations granting them asylum. It is just as vital as the UDHR in terms of the issues it addresses and the goals that it aims to achieve. India faces its own refugee crisis and this is the perfect platform for members from all schools of thought, opinion and expression to carve out a path for India to resolve this delicate situation. The conference will be split into three sessions. The first session will see students interacting with resource persons from UNHRC and ICRC on the current international legal framework for refugees. In the second session, student delegates with the guidance of panelists including academicians and advocates of refugee rights will delve on the practical lacunae in the international legal framework as well as inadequacies of the Indian mechanism. Finally, there will be a session with officials from the Ministry of External Affairs in order to understand the stance taken by the Indian state as far as the CRSR is concerned. The conclusion of this conference will be marked by the presentation of a Memorandum to the Ministry of External Affairs, India; one step that we take in the hope of making a difference.
