ULSTER was dealt a massive jobs blow yesterday with news that 760 workers at FG Wilson will be made redundant by

the middle of next year. The engineering company which operates from four sites between Belfast and Larne could eventually shed almost half of its 3,000-strong workforce. Employees, union repre-

sentatives and politicians have reacted with shock and fury at the companys decision to move the majority of its small generator production to a plant in China in order to be closer to the growing Asian market.

Management at FG Wilson has said the situation regarding sites would remain under review but stressed that the firm remained committed to Northern Ireland as a manufacturing base. See pages 4, 5 & 20
