A salesgirl approaches you. Salesgirl: Excuse me sir, may I help you? (Miss if you are a lady or maam if you are married.) You: Yes. Im looking for a birthday present for my mother. Can you help me? Salesgirl: Of course. What does your mother like? You: She likes scarves and handbags. Salesgirl: We have both. What colour does she like? You: She likes red. Salesgirl: Please wait. I will show you some red scarves and handbags. (She returns with scarves and handbags.) Salesgirl: Here you are, sir. You: Thank you. These are great. I think Ill take that red scarf. Salesgirl: Good choice, sir. Please pay at the cashier and have a nice day. You: Thanks again. Notes: 1) Plural for scarf is scarves. 2) Simple questions have this structure: Verb + Noun + Verb + ? e.g: May I help you? Can you help me? 3) Questions that start with Wh- such as What, Why, When, have these structures:

Wh- + Verb + Noun + Verb ? (e.g: What does your mother like?) Or Wh- + Noun + Verb + Noun + Verb ? (e.g: What colour does she like?) Cara Betul Menggunakan 'The': The sebagai yang kita telah belajar, menunjukkan sesuatu Kata Nama atau Noun yang tertentu. Sebagai contoh: 1. Siti is looking for the missing cat. Iaitu bukan sebarang kucing, tetapi kucing yang hilang. 2. I will wear the red dress. Iaitu bukan baju berwarna hijau atau biru, tetapi yang merah. The tidak boleh digunakan bersama Kata Nama yang tidak boleh dikira atau Uncountable Noun. Contohnya: 1. I like listening to the music. X

Sepatutnya: I like listening to music. 2. He likes the nature. X Sepatutnya: He likes nature. 'The juga tidak boleh digunakan bersama Kata Nama yang menandakan banyak atau Plural Noun yang mempunyai maksud secara am. Contohnya: 1. I like the apples more than the oranges. X Sepatutnya: I like apples more than oranges.
