A Clean Internet? Right... Ah, the Internet. A great place, indeed.

Petabytes and petabytes of information - from pictures of cats with written in a funny manner, filled with mistakes tex ts to textbooks on quantum mechanics - the Internet has it all. And yet, it's co me to my attention that most youngsters use it to 'flame' others. Internet users are rude toward each other, and do not respect each other's opinions. It s like the y enter this perpetual bashing' contest. Why is everybody so angry all the time? I' ll point out a few reasons (certainly not all, but a few). The first reason is anonymity. On the Internet you are anonymous so you're free to be whatever you please. You can frequently see people expressing their real o pinions on different matters online. This is one of the reasons they don't mind being rude - because one doesn't have to deal with consequences from one s actions o r statements. In a sense, you don't do anything wrong. If you're rude in real li fe, in most cases, there are at least moral consequences from what one does and one has to deal with. This is not the case on the Internet, however, like I stat ed above, and that's one of the reasons for the constant 'flaming.' A deeper reason, in my opinion, is the fact youngsters today don't really know h ow to communicate. They constantly feel threatened and that's why they have a te ndency towards violence - verbal or otherwise. Great expectations and impossible standards are bestowed upon them by the media. They don't realise the differenc e between the telly and the real life anymore. They try constantly to live the f antasy. Since that is not possible a state of anxiety emerges. Be that as it may, society forbids showing one's negative emotions - they have to be contained. And that's why these frustrated young people go on and 'bash' users on the Internet because in there no judgement can be exacted. Even if they are judged, it's not really them it s their profile, their avatar, their nickname or whatever other pers ona they wear in Cyberspace. I guess that's why we can never have a nice and clean Internet. In order to clea n the Internet up, we must cleanse our society first.
