Treatment
The basic idea of our video is a homeless boy on the street. This is because the main theme of our song is mad world. We chose this because someone who has lived on the streets for a while will have really experienced the world and a lot of the lyrics talk about different places and instead of having someone in multiple places at once it may look better if we have someone from the outside looking in. For example when he talks about school it may be more effective to have someone looking on in envy than have a child who probably wouldnt match the lyrics as they probably wouldnt have experienced as much of the world. Our video will start with the main character about to die and reliving his life. We chose this because the song we chose is quite sad and it is about someones experience of the world.
We felt that this would also conform to the tempo of the song as its sad and mellow.

The overall feel of the video will be very muggy and grey. This is because our video although not a downbeat video is quite slow and to match the lyrics the video would have to be in that sort of mould. The main part of our video that will subvert from the stereotype is that the song we have chosen is quite downbeat but; the ending of the song although not completely different is quite happy. This is because throughout the song the main character is on their own and then at the end just as he is about to die he sees a lot of people around him. This is happy because it shows that he was not on his own even if it may have felt like it. Our specified target audience would be young adults and older this is because it isnt a really fast paced upbeat song, this means that teenagers and below may not be as attracted by our song. This means that our music video will be more narrative based because a mature audience is generally more likely to concentrate on this rather than teenagers who may be distracted by the music.
Jason will be doing a cover of our song as he has a studio and access to the editing equipment necessary to make it a good quality version for our video. We will take turns acting and capturing the footage for example one of us will be the main character and the other will be someone is has a good amount of camera time without being classed as a main character. This will mean that we get equal time without affecting the continuity of the video.
