arly Wednesday morning, local resident Don Farr had the greatest surprise any football fan could ever wish for. At 9:15 am, October 3rd, Don opened his front door to the legendary Grey Cup. Crews from the CFL, CSN along with Blue Bomber mascots Buzz and Boomer all arrived to make sure Don had the surprise of a life time. Th was great, I thought everyone on the lawn is were high school kids out here getting ready to look for donations or something, said Don. Th was a is welcome surprise, it was unbelievable and I never would have imagined this! I had no clue they were coming or that the Grey Cup would be in our home!

n Wednesday, October 3rd, the Grey Cup itself made quite the commotion for the community of Minnedosa. The Grey Cup 100th anniversary train arrived Tuesday night and was closely guarded with security. Wednesday, an estimated 1,400 fans made their way to Minnedosas CP Rail yard, to discover the Grey Cup of yesterday and the Grey Cup of today. From Rosedale Field in 1909 to Rogers Centre in 2012, the Canadian Football League and the Grey Cup have a vast and storied history. A history that includes the famous Mud Bowl and Fog Bowl, our own brand of three-down football, a 110-yard field and unique values and traditions that reflect us all as Canadians. In 1909, Governor General Earl Grey donated a trophy to the winner of the amateur rugby football championship of Canada. Th fi rst Grey Cup was awarded to the University of e Toronto at Rosedale Field after defeating Toronto Parkdale 26-6 on December 4th, 1909.
