NYS SENATE RACES: GOP RETAINS FUNDRAISING LEAD WITHMORE THAN FIVE TIMES THE MONEY IN THE BANK THAN DEMOCRATS With a month to go before election day, the most recent campaign finance disclosure forms show that Republican committees involved in Senate races have 5.3 times as much money in their campaign coffers as Democrats ones. This is essentially unchanged since July, when they had 5.4 times the money. If current totals for housekeeping committees which havent needed to file since July were available, there is a good chance that the Republican lead would be greater, due to reports that Mayor Bloomberg recently gave the Republicans $1 million. Of course, significant sums of money spent in October will come from Super PACs, which are not included in these totals. NYSUT has recently pledged to spend a fifth of its $4 million unauthorized committee to aid Senate Democrats, and a mysterious Common Sense Principles committee has recently been funding mailings designed to benefit Republicans. TOTAL MONEY IN THE BANK AS OF MOST RECENT FILINGS1 Democratic Total: $3,464,902.94 $3,024,873.23 $1,216,124.92 $54,187.73 $16,806.33 $152,068.27 $214,836.76 $465,698.29 -$1,679,692.59 $417,310.38 $1,434,184.94 Republican Total: $18,457,431.34 $12,873,503.28
