I have recently learned about exponents. I have learned about bases, exponents, and powers. A base of a power is the lower, regular sized number used to tell the factor being multiplied. The exponent is the raised, smaller number used to tell how many times the base multiplies itself by itself. A power indicates repeated multiplication of the same factor. So 2 to the 2nd power would be the same as 2 squared. Together these things tell you what to multiply, how many times it multiplies itself, and how to say this equation. a power is a shortcut for multiplying a number by itself. Describing this using geometry would go something like this; say I was using cubes. 2 cubes to th 2nd power would be 2 cubes times 2 cubes, which equalls 4 cubes. That is what I have earned about exponents.
