Foundation Stage 1 Newsletter, week beginning:

Dear Parents

and carers,

Here are the main activities that your child will be doing in-class over the next fortnight. We have given you ideas for homework that link with each of the six main activities. Please send any work or photos in to school so your child can share it with their friends.

We will hold a circle time using expression puppets to demonstrate acceptable and unacceptable behaviour and how it makes us feel. We will draw pictures of ourselves with the aim to include recognisable features like our face, body, arms and legs.

Creative Development

We will role-play doctors and nurses and explore the new language for body parts.

Discuss with your child reasons for visiting a doctor/a hospital. Talk about what a doctor might do if you have an upset stomach, a broken arm etc.

Other areas of focus in FS1:


Please send fruit for your childs snack. Please place this in the basket outside your childs class, with your childs name clearly labelled on the container. Please continue to practice wiping noses and washing hands.

Outdoor Learning
As of Sunday the children will have access to the outdoor area at all times. We encourage children to move in and out as they wish extending their activities, as they want, these are planned and continuous activities that we prepare for; please refer to the teachers noticeboard. We ask that children bring a sun hat and that sun cream is applied in the morning at home. The children can work under cover or out in the large garden, ensuring they move as much as they need to meet their physical, emotional and intellectual needs. If you have any questions regarding outdoor learning please see your childs class teacher.
