SAFF

Canada Film Industry Forum Day

Friday, November 2nd, Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel: 12:00pm 6:00pm Vancouver has been known affectionately as Hollywood North for decades. Because of the powerful American influence and attention, Vancouver has become a magnet for international producers, drawn to the superb crews, the locations, and the film savvy communities. BC producers have partnered with North American and International industry giants, including the Chinese, courtesy of a long-standing co-production agreement with China. There has however been scant attention paid to what is arguably the largest and most diverse industry in the world - the film and television universe of India. An economic powerhouse, with multiple locations, and a burgeoning infrastructure, India has much to offer to Canadians and to BC producers in particular. SAFF Canada South Asian Film Festival is committed to bringing to the attention of the film fraternity the attributes and complexities inherent in all of the South Asian countries, but in particular, the vibrant and multi-layered elements within the Indian universe. Join us for the FIRST SAFF Canada Industry Forum Day, and explore new collaborative ventures, production possibilities and challenges. FOUR PANELS WILL BE PRESENTED: 1. Hanging Out With Google: An intimate look at the latest opportunities Google is developing for Filmmakers. 2. It's All In The Accent : A glimpse inside the gig-securing realities of perfecting foreign accents for actors of color in this city. 3. RBC's Emerging Artists Project: An Overview of the RBC Program, Financing and Making Profitable Short Films - the tricks, the truths, the facts and the market for international short films. 4. Movers and Shakers: Meet some of Indias top Directors, Producers, and Educators. An opportunity to share experiences with active leaders of the Indian industry.
