When they reach King Arthurs court they find an imposter queen on the throne. This is Guineveres identical half-sister by her father; she explains to the sidekick, she thought was dead. As Guinevere goes to announce her return the sidekick stops her reminding her that she herself could be seen as the imposter. They return at night and sneak into the imposter Queens room to question her. The imposter is confused as she believes herself to be the real Guinevere and when tested she knew as much of Guineveres history as she did herself. The sidekick knocks something over attracting the attention of the guards outside the room, however, they escape unseen. The two flee to a nearby lake where they review what just happened. Guinevere notes that they are not her usual guards and that her ladies in waiting are missing. She then begins to question her own identity as she believes the imposter to be telling the truth I know my own face when its telling the truth. but the sidekick says he knows shes the real one. His faith encourages her. They decide to work in stealth to uncover what is going on. They find a cave near the lake in which to hide and rest. Meanwhile, a womans head rises from the lake, its the Lady of the Lake, and she appears evil. The two wake the next day to find an ambush of knights outside the cave. They fight their way to an escape; the sidekick stealing a shield from one of the attacking knights in defence. Afterwards they reflect that someone must have known they were there and who she was. Imprinted on the back of the shield was a small crest; it was the crest of Mordred. Guinevere discuses herself and begins to infiltrate her way into Mordreds life while the sidekick gets a job in the kitchens so he can learn from the gossip as keep close watch on the imposter queen. Guinevere begins a romance with him in order to extract information about his plans. queens room Guinevere and the sidekick succeed in taking out two of the guards and disguising themselves in their robes. They follow the mysterious lady back in the night only to find themselves entering Morgan le Fays court. Guinevere and the sidekick disappear swiftly knowing that discovery wasnt an option and find refuge in a local village. Guinevere explains her confusion as Morgan was always a kind lady and a healer of the sick but that she had been rarely seen for a year now and the people in the village explain how she is now cruel. The next day they hear that the Queen is to be executed as they have discovered her affair with Sir Lancelot. Knowing this means the plans, whatever they are, are about to be put into action, Guinevere tricks one of Morgans body guards into a dungeon while the sidekick waits outside on guard. She then threatens him to get him to talk. He explains how they found the identical Guinevere and brought her to this dungeon where she stayed, unseen, for a year. Morgan visited every night until one day she brought her out and she had no idea of old life and believed herself to be the Queen Guinevere. While King Arthur was on his roman campaign they had organised Guinevere to be taken over seas and assassinated, so her body wouldnt be found, but the assassins thought theyd take her to Rome instead and sell her as a slave. Meanwhile, Morgan replaced her with the imposter. Guinevere asked why Morgan did all this, the guard smiles and says in a feminine voice to put my son on the throne. It turns out to be Morgan herself using her shape shifting powers. She hits Guinevere over the head. Before Guinevere passes out she see Morgan transform into her mirror image and leave the dungeon. Guinevere is woken up by one of the boys from the village but she doesnt remember who she is or how she got there. The boy tells her she was going to defeat the evil Morgan and her son. He says that her friend went to the great lake. Not knowing who she is or anything about her past she decided to head to the lake as the boy said. The word in the village is that the Queen, who was sentenced to death, was rescued by Sir Lancelot and hes fled overseas pursued by King Arthur. Guinevere arrives at the lake to find Morgan, seemingly alone, discussed as Guinevere; however, Guinevere cant remember what she looks like so only sees what seems to be a familiar face. She approaches Morgan and asks if she know her and explains about her amnesia. Morgan plays along and pretends to be the friend shes looking for. She tells her that Mordred will be here soon and they must kill him to save the king. Guinevere is reluctant but then the lady of the lake appears and tells her it is true. They tell her that the evil Morgan has placed an imposter queen on the throne and that the disguised Morgan is the genuine queen. Guinevere says that a Lancelot had just recued a queen and that the King has left to fight him; Morgan looks ecstatic at the news. She tells Guinevere that this means its the perfect time for her to kill Mordred but that she, Morgan, had to sort out other things. She tells Guinevere to kill the next man to enter the lakes clearing and gives her a knife. Later on the sidekick walks into the clearing and sees Guinevere. He hurries over explaining that hed escaped Morgan, knowing shes fake, to come and free her but shed gone. He hugs her, behind him

Guinevere sees the Lady of the Lake, he them goes to kiss her and as he does Guinevere stabs him in the back. She then suddenly remembers everything but its too late; the sidekick dies in her arms. The Lady of the Lake, who was watching the whole event, then screams as the curse on her lifts. She tells Guinevere that someone had cursed her, making her curse Morgan and to capture Merlin. She tells Guinevere where to find Merlin. She gives her armour, a powerful sword and a horse as no doubt Morgan is still cursed and after her. Guinevere travels for a long time to the distant cave where Merlin is trapped and uses the power in the sword to free him. She explains the whole story as they travel back to Camelot. Before they arrive they find that Mordred has seized the throne and is moments from a great battle with Arthur. Merlin says theres nothing they can do to stop it. He then asks who it was that cursed the Lady of the Lake. To find out they return to the lady herself. She refuses to talk but then breaks down to reveal that shes ashamed to say she fell in love. A man then appears from the cave saying that he was then able to curse her in her exposed state. The man is Sir Kay, a large knight from King Arthurs court who possesses magical skill. He reveals that Merlin had told him that should Arthur and Mordred fight they would be evenly matched and both die. He developed a plan that meant he could take the throne and the Roman Empire as a beloved knight and never accused of murdering the great King Arthur. Hed sent most of the knights off after the Grail to make it even easier and use Mordred and his Mother to do all the dirty work. He says his plan is almost complete but now that he now needed to dispose of Merlin and Guinevere. The three then battle using a combination of magic and sword skills. Guinevere falls to the ground and sees the Lady of the Lake watching the battle just below the surface. Guinevere then crawls back leading Sir Kay to the edge of the lake. He draws up his arms for a finishing blow when the Lady of the Lake rises up, grabs him and pulls him under the water. Merlin and Guinevere hurry to the battle to find everyone dead. Morgan stands over the body of her son as he dies beside the also dying Arthur, being held by Sir Bedivere. Merlin explains that grief has the power to lift curses such as the on the Lady of the Lake and on Morgan. He tells Morgan that she must heal Arthur and she agrees but she wants to bury her son in Avalon first. She tells them to send Arthur down the stream to her in Avalon but he must stay with her there. The film ends with Guinevere watching Arthur float down stream to Avalon.
