Camera Journal My Job as the camera person required me capturing as much footage as possible, so the editor had a variety

of shots which would allow them to find it easier when selecting shots for the film. When filming we used the Sony Z1 with DB tapes to record the footage straight onto. In order to record the footage, I had to make sure that I was familiar with particular features on the camera, as this would enable me to enhance certain aspects of the film, which would give the film a more dramatic effect. In order to get the best footage, I also in my spare time looked up various YouTube clips, because this would expand and build on my knowledge with cameras. Some of the difficulties I faced when filming was at certain times I found it particularly hard to maintain a steady hand, however I had my other group members who assisted me. As a group we came to the conclusion the tripod would be most suitable. The tripod also came in handy because it took just seconds to adjust, yet it can support the camera in the perfect position for however long we needed without any trouble. Also throughout our production I choose to use a lot of close-ups to add a more striking effect amongst the audience, and the tripod reduced any unwanted movement that the camera gave. Also lighting caused me some inconvenience when filming as we didnt have a great amount of time and limited budged, so me and my fellow team members decided to change some of the locations we originally planned to film in as they would decrease the quality of the footage. Throughout the production I have worked closely with the editor as she will be polishing and redefining the focus of the story. She has also guided me on what type of footage to aim to get, so she could edit to the best of her ability. Thus working in collaboration with the editor has improved our film as she would be working with raw footage and shots I have collected, therefore this would help her understand why I choose to use that particular shot or positioning. I also choose to do this as she would be the person in charge of turning them into a sequence to creating the finished motion picture.
