One of the most important critical success factors of a bank is ensuring availability of cash in its ATMs, whenever needed by a customer. ACB replenishes cash at its ATMs by means of a high security cash van that has a capacity of carrying 3000000. The cash van operates between 0700 2000 hours in a day and works all the 7 days of a week. Due to high cost of cash van, the Bank Manager had ordered the use of only one van for cash transfer to all the ATMs In order to ensure high service levels (cash availability to the customer when needed) at optimal costs, the Manager has to develop a one time schedule for ATM replenishment depending upon cash withdrawals by the customers at the respective ATMs. The managers objective is to ensure high service level at ATMs to customers while minimizing the travel duration of the cash van. The manager has collected data on the arrival rates of customers (only those who withdraw cash) at its ATMs for different time periods, along with the range of cash withdrawals. On an average, the cash van takes 5 minutes to replenish the cash at any ATM Every morning, the cash van loads cash from the bank HQ (loading time = 30 minutes) and returns back to the HQ at the end of the day. The cash van should reach back the HQ before 20:00 hours every day.

Resolve
The ATMs disburse cash only in the denomination of 100. Develop a single one-day schedule which will be followed for the entire month of August 2012. The schedule is to be implemented from 1st August onwards and assume that on 31st July @ 23:59 hours, the ATMs are filled at 30% of their capacity. The evaluation will be based on Service level which will be aggregated till August 31, 2012 @ 2359 Hrs. Travel Duration of the Cash Van
