Every day hundreds of adults in Charles County struggle with routine task such as reading the newspaper, a note

sent home from a childs teacher, a bus schedule; following a recipe, prescription instructions, driving directions; helping with a childs homework, filling in a job application. The Charles County Literacy Council has provided free tutoring to adult learners in the county for almost 50 years. After an initial screening, our volunteer tutors meet once a week with their students to help them: learn to read improve their basic math study for the ASVAB (military entry exam) learn or improve English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) Please help us continue our work. The demand for our services, and reward to the community has never been greater.
