Lets Talk about Anguilla

Preparing for your arrival...
October!!! Everyone is on their way back home from their long (very long) vacation. Its now time to get ready and prepare ourselves for your arrival to our beautiful island. Anguillans love a vacation we do deserve it, dont you think? Cause we work really hard to ensure that you can relax all day and do nothing later while youre in Anguilla. The average time of an Anguillan vacation is three to six weeks annually and sometimes longer (were only talking about time spent abroad). The season doesnt start until late November. Most hotel, resort and restaurant doors are open to the public and ready for business in October. Im inviting each and every one of you to come to Anguilla and see what Ive been seeing and feeling all my life. And I just cant get enough of it! I dont care how you get here, just get here if you can. You can get to be me, as an Anguillan for a week or two, and retrain your body to be at ease. In my time spent here on The Rock -Anguilla, which is all my life, it has been a great journey of life. No...if I had to re-live this life I would not change a thing. And if I die today I can honestly say I had a wonderful life. My day starts at 4:30am six days a week, where I cycle with a small group of fun guys who make the ride very interesting. We do this for about two hours and Im home by 6:30am in time to get ready for work at 8:30am. Yes I do have to work - who do you think I am, Bill Gates? Not even close. I work down at the ferry terminal in Blowing Point where I await your arrival to rent you a car. I hang-out at the ferry till 12:00pm then I go home and sleep. Dont call me lazy, my day starts at 4:30am! Life can be great for all. Its not because I live on a beautiful tropical island called Anguilla, with the most awesome beaches and people in the world that gives me the rights to say I have a wonderful life. We all have the rights to say that. An awesome life is what we make of it, thats how easy it is. Always think positive even though youre surrounded by negative influences. Always hope for the best but expect and prepare yourself for the worst. I still believe in slavery, but only if its for love. Prayer - we need it in our lives; its that one thing we need more of. Growing up as a kid, prayer was always in the air: Thank You Father, Father Help Us, May God Bless You and God is Good. Those were some of the words I heard and grew up with each and every day. Today you have to go to church to hear them (not good). Ive seen the good, the bad and the uglysometimes all at once. To live a wonderful life theres no way around the good, the bad and the ugly. You have to face them and when you do, be prepared to deal with the situation. It doesnt take much to make me a happy man and a hell of a lot to make me unhappy. Most of you are not good enough to make me have a bad day. All it takes are the little simple things to make my day. My beliefs about life are simple: always start with yourself and be true and good to yourself before you are to others. So be good to yourself with a day at the beach! Its the most typical thing to do for most of you because thats what you came for. However, doing the same thing every day gets to you after awhile. Lets do something different. Lets take one day out from your vacation and go find a coconut tree and pick a coconut. Now, just follow my 9-step instructions on How to open a coconut with your bare hands. (1) Find a tree and pick a green one (sometimes can be yellow). Guys take your shirt off and tie it around your head; this helps you get in the mood, (2) Find a hard solid surface (like a flat rock), (3) With your two hands, hold the coconut over head with the pointy part (or bottom) of the coconut facing down, (4) With some physical power, slam the nut into rock, (5) Repeat step 4 several times until the nut is cracked on all three sides, (6) With raw power, place two hands/fingers into the cracks and pull and separate the shell from the nut, (7) After removing all the shell from the nut, look at the top of the nut and you should see three eyes looking at you (its the only thing in the world that has eyes but cant see), (8) Find a pointy object like a stick and punch a hole in any two of the three eyes. Kick your head back and enjoy your reward with the taste of fresh coconut juice. After that fresh drink, theres more. The party has just begun! (9) Once again, repeat step 4 but this time youre going to be a bit less gentle on the nut - not with all your power. Place one hand on the nut and gently tap the nut on the flat side to the hard surface. Repeat this process until the nut cracks into small bits for easy eating. Again, youll be rewarded now with the taste of Coconut Jelly. To the photo. A great look at step 7. All three eyes looking at your two :-)

Life as it is on Anguilla
Life as it is on Anguilla can only be what you make of it. Each and every one that visits the island for whatever reason has their say on what they think of Anguilla. The visitors that come over from next door, St. Martin, think its boring and dead. Theres not enough people, not enough fast food chains, not enough cars/traffic, not enough partying, not enough trouble & crime, no shopping and casinos, and its too quiet. They also think that the beaches are so beautiful that they should have them over on their side instead of Anguilla. I love the St. Martiners, theyre funny. They still all come over to Anguilla after everything they have on St. Martin stresses them out. Cant blame them huh? Is it possible to live your entire life in the city that never sleeps and then go live in a cave? Like I say, everything is what we make of it and it aint what you do, its the way you do it that makes the difference. Lets go back to the St. Martiner that just arrives by ferry. First lesson: never go somewhere to criticize it. Go there with intentions of making the best of it. How is this done? Always arrive to your destination with a smile. Your mission should be to accomplish the things you can only do there. Why would the St. Martiner come to Anguilla to shop? It only makes sense if hes shopping for fish and seafood, then theyre at the right place. My advice to the St. Martiner will be relax buddy take a deep breath, smell the grilled fish that flows through the fresh air, and redeem yourself for Im going to make you over into a new man. No, Im not going to send you to the beach (well not any beach). Im going to send your butt over and down to Little Bay. And no, you will not be going to Crocus Bay where youll find Calvins boat service that takes you over to Little Bay. Youre going to Little Bay my way... down the rope! Many ask me why I love to rope down to Little Bay and not use Calvins boat service. My answer is when you work hard for something or to get somewhere, it makes you appreciate it more. Its like when you find that treasure youve been looking for so long. I found my treasure when I was least looking for it. I found my treasure on a boat, and no it wasnt at the bottom of the ocean, it was Ronya. Remember her? My Wife. And Little Bay is a treasure to whoever finds and sees it for their first time. You dont have to know what youre looking for in life, you just have to keep looking. On this beautiful tropical island, living life here can be easy. In fact, it can often be mistaken for a dream. We do have all the tools needed to give you that great head start to a long healthy easy life. Tools like our pollution-free fresh air and surroundings, along with our stressfree atmosphere. Theres also an easy & hard way to do all things in life. Like its easy to get married but staying married is not that easy. Its easy to fall in love and again staying in love is not that easy. To take a bad picture/photo on a beautiful place like Anguilla, thats very hard to do. And, it can be legal to do something but also can be fatal. Believe it or not, Im not allergic to anything except when my wife has to take a trip and leave me all alone. So, on the day of our beach wedding on August/10/2012 I asked her to promise me this: If for any reason you decide to leave me, PLEASE take me with you and she agreed. But one of the hardest things to do on Anguilla is to depart the island. The point Im trying to make is, in life you MUST face the good, bad, ugly, positive and negative influents of life. Stand up like an adult and face them cause theres a lesson to be learned from both forces. First one does not exist without the other. We all think theres nothing to learn from the positive cause its all good (not true). The lesson learned from positive forces is that there is a negative out there. We as Anguillans have learned to deal with both forces. We only think positive and in return, positive feedback is what well get. Anguilla is my home and I love this land, and you should feel the same way about your home as well. Home will always be home but sometimes you do need a break away from it to wander off and visit someone elses home (we call that a vacation). Just like you guys love to come here for our beautiful beaches and warm weather, I love hanging out underground in the subways of NY and living in the shopping malls. We all need each other to make life better and thats a fact. Without the large sums of cash you guys bring to the island when you arrive and leave it here before you depart, my island wouldnt be as prosperous as it is today. Isnt it the same for the USA and many others countries in terms of your economy with visitors/tourists to your country? As good as life may seem to be, it can be better. And as bad as it may look, always remember theres always someone out there that has it worse than you. If youre surrounded by positive feelings, people and things, you dont have a choice but to be positive, and youre on your way to a great life like mine! To the photo A great example to a great start of a healthy long stress free life. What better way to start this life then to be hanging out on a beautiful quit Beach, under the stress free tree over at Lime Stone Bay.

Some of the goods Andy can get you in Anguilla:

On an island where there are no trains, buses, or subways, Andy can rent you a car to start.
They come in Minivans, Jeeps or four door sedans all fully loaded with A/C. Getting around the island is easy and the island roads are wide and paved. Getting lost is not an option but if for some reason it happens youll have a cell phone in your possession that you can rent from Andy. You can rent a cell phone from Andy for $5.00 a day or $25.00 a week. It comes with a local number that can be assigned to you so your friends, family, and loved ones can stay in contact while on island at all times. No need for roaming - we all know what cell phone roaming fees can do while traveling. All incoming calls are free. Outgoing calls are about $0.50 US a min. Mondays to Fridays 8:00am to 6:00pm, weekends and other times are $0.40 US a min. And if for some reason you need help or assistance on your journey to that beautiful beach hotel, art gallery, or any other destination, you may call Andy and with one phone call youll be there. Its only about $0.15 US for a call. On this island where the underwater snorkeling is amazing, why not go snorkeling? We have so many sites to go snorkeling around the island. Snorkeling gear takes up lots of traveling space so it can be a traveling burden. Andy can rent you this equipment for $10.00 a day; if rented for more than four (4) days, $6.00 a day is the charge. Snorkeling gear can also be rented over on Shoal Bay beach but has to be used only on Shoal Bay. Its not portable and not the best option for an island with more than fifteen (15) great snorkeling sites. Beach Gear - With more than thirty (30) white sand beaches you need to have beach gear of some type. Once again Andy can arrange this portable equipment for your island travel extravaganza! Portable beach gear can only be arranged by one person on island: Andy. It can be found over at Shoal Bay but once again this equipment cant be moved from the beach. For $10.00 US a day, more than four (4) days $6.00 is the charge, this deal comes with two (2) chairs and an umbrella with a sand grabber. Not to forget my people, all those deals are on Anguilla! We have to get there so come with me onboard the GB EXPRESS ferry shuttle from Julianna Airport in St. Maarten to Anguilla. This ferry operates from the Airport and you can be in Anguilla in thirty (30) min. traffic free. For more info. please go to www.anguillaferryandcharter.com To all my guests that come to our shore lines, welcome or welcome again! When signing up for your car rental dont be afraid to ask for your complimentary drink for the first two persons. Fruit or rum punch on the house.

Lets talk about me, myself...Andy

Born and raised in beautiful Anguilla, Ive seen the sun rise and set for many years and plan on doing the same for many more years to come - have no intentions of going anywhere. One short way to describe me, a local Anguillan, is a down to earth guy not afraid of getting my hands dirty to make your vacation better. Im blessed to be on this special 35 square mile island surrounded by beautiful beaches, great friends, and loved ones that fuel me to be the person I am today. I'm never closed for business, can be anywhere on island in twenty min. or less, and can guide you with one phone call anywhere on island while driving one of my cars that be can rented from us at Andyrentals.com. Im more of a friend than a businessman to my guests. That's the kind of guy youll be dealing with upon arrival on Anguilla.
