Chemical Lab Discovered in St.

Johnsbury
ST. JOHNSBURY - Early this afternoon, Vermont State Police led an investigation of a wooded area on Old Center Road in St. Johnsbury. This investigation, however, was anything but ordinary. A clandestine lab was discovered in the wooded area behind Old Center Road. Lieutenant Michael Henry of the Vermont State Police said the crews were called to help clean up the dangerous chemicals. A clandestine lab is defined as something that is hidden and kept secret, especially for purposes of deception. The lab was discovered hidden in the woods, and crews worked for hours to clean up and contain the chemicals. "There are a lot of toxic and dangerous chemicals there, and that's what this team is doing is cleaning up those chemicals," said Lieutenant Henry of the Vermont State Police. Lieutenant Henry said that the investigation was carried out by the Vermont Drug Task Force, along with the Drug Enforcement Agency, Vermont Hazardous Materials Agency, St. Johnsbury Fire Department, St. Johnsbury Police Department, and Caledonia County Sheriffs Department. No arrests have been made in connection with the lab, and the investigation of the case has been handed over to the U.S. Attorney General's office.
