Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)

Use Case 1

Identifier: UC01 Name: Data transmission to ground station Authors: Capt Abdul Rehman, Capt Ehsan Tarar, Capt Syed Irfan Goal: Transmission of video / pictures captured by camera to the ground station Pre-Conditions:
a. b. c. a. UAV has achieved required height. Cameras are working properly. A user agent has not interrupted the normal flow of communication. System starts successful transmission of captured data to ground station. Air station controller (An automated user agent)

Post Conditions: Primary Actor: Participants

a. b. c. a. a.

Master Ground station (An automated user agent) Control room operator (A human acting as user agent) Air station controller ( An automated user agent) Flight control Main I. Air station Controller sends a link request to ground station with encryption key. II. Ground station responds to the request by providing decryption key. III. Air station checks the key match and responds back by ready signal for transmission. IV. Transmission starts. Alternative I. Ground station sends a request to air station for transmission of data. II. Air station sends a link request to ground station with encryption key. III. Ground station responds to the request by providing decryption key. IV. Air station checks the key match and responds back by ready signal for transmission. V. Transmission starts.

Exceptional Scenario I. System fails to establish a link. i. Three attempts will be made automatically and beyond that control room operator can force more attempts based on requirement. II. Camera stops working i. Secondary camera takes over.

Use Case 2

Identifier: UC02 Name: Flight Control Authors: Capt Abdul Rehman, Capt Ehsan Tarar, Capt Syed Irfan Goal: To control and maneuver the UAV during flight Pre-Conditions:
a. b. c. UAV has sufficient fuel. The receiver battery is fully charged. A connection between the transmitter and the UAV receptor has been established.

Post Conditions:
a. The ground station successfully maneuvers the UAV to the desired locations. Primary Actor: Ground Operator

Participants
a. Air station controller

Scenarios
a. Main I. The Ground operator issues steering commands to the UAV using the remote controller. II. Commands include steer left, right, up, down, forward and backward. III. The UAVs onboard controller receives the commands and generates appropriate electrical signals to the servo motor of the UAV. IV. The UAV responds accordingly. b. Alternative I. Nil. c. Exceptional Scenario I. UAV doesnt respond to the operators command. i. The operator checks whether the transmitter failed to establish a link with the receiver. ii. The operator will then replace the batteries of the receiver and the transmitter with new ones. iii. The operator will then reestablish the link with the UAV receiver.
