Goal State: Measure k by designing an experiment with easily measurable variables.

Method:
A simple way to attain a value for k is to set up the ski material beneath a mass on an inclined plane. We know that k is a function of both materials that are in friction; that is, we wish to measure the friction coefficient between both the ski material and the snow. That means (unfortunately) to get good data; the experiment will need to be performed on snow. The easily measured variables are as follows: 1. angle of slope 2. time to reach bottom of hill 3. mass of ski material and mass atop material The following page shows how the experiment would be performed and the derivation of the equation for k.
