SORT EXAMPLE

This week we will be talking about words that have double vowels. The rule is when 2 vowels go walking the first one does the talking. This means that we say ONLY the first vowel sound in the word. The vowel sound will ALWAYS be a long vowel when we there are two vowels together. For example, in the word pain we only hear the long a sound. the "i" sound is silent. Of course there are special cases when this rule does not work; however, most of the time this English rule works great :)
