To a Coy Student Had we but world enough, and time, This coyness, fellow student, were no crime. We would sit down and think which movie To watch, lay on the couch and eat some pop corn. The projects, tests, SATs, college essays That lie before would mean no stress. The endless number of episodes of your favorite show Would not have to wait. We would all relax and enjoy, Go to sleep with a smile on our face. But at my back I always hear Time ticking and deadlines coming near; And yonder all before us lie Deserts of endless assignments to be complete. The house of grades are a fine and private place, But none I think you will want to see. Now therefore, while time is here Start on your assignments. Let your brain get into the work, Do not let it wander around. Imagine the nights you spend awake And the stress on Sunday night you will create. Do them well and do them right To reduce your tears tomorrow night. Because procrastination Will lead to suffocation.
