Image- The denotation of the covers is

very clear to anyone looking at it. Eminem is a music artist and performs on stages a lot of the time. Here he is sitting, looking depressed while the curtains are opening to show just him giving us a feel that the album might contain music that gives the audience an insight into Eminems life and problems. The name of the album is The Eminem Show and the picture is in a performance setting and Eminem is a performer which gives the feel that maybe he is always on stage, whether it is him performing or not. The back of the album also shows a stage but with the curtain down and a microphone on its own with the track names beside it and they both link with the music on the CD itself. The back cover shows the curtains down but the spotlight still shinning on the curtain which could reflect his life where even though he tries to keep hidden from things behind curtains and things people still want to see him and he is always being searched for. Also the first and last tracks are called Curtains Up and Curtains Close which is represented in the pictures. On the albums front cover you see the curtains open or up with the artist in clear shot in the centre of the curtains and at the end the curtains are closed and the artist is not in view no more.

Copy- The text on the front is of a very big bold font style which stands out a lot and also appeals and
catches the human eye line. It is in the style of a headline on a show, where they have a big font to draw people in to watching the show. The back cover font is almost like a person has scribbled or wrote down the names of the tracks featured in the album and put them on there. The track songs seem to go in a sort of story order. From the start where it is called Curtains Up all the way through to the end, it seems that each track name tells its own story and as the tracks go down the mood or feel the songs have start to go down and get more serious and depressing. Business is one of the first songs that features in the album and then toward the end tracks are named things such as Till I collapse and My dads gone crazy and they are more depressing and dull then the starting track names which could also represent his life and outlook on life or the music game.

Target Audience- The target

audience for this genre of music and album is someone that is of a late teenage age such as 18 years old and could be all the way up to late 30s. With the Parental Advisory logo placed on the album it shows that there is explicit content which is use of strong language and very graphic content which isnt appropriate for all ages and is targeted to 18 years old and above. Because Eminem is in his late 30s, people who grew up listening to him in the 1990s will be a large part of his target audience.

Genre- The genre of this album is

rap. This is particularly listened to by black Americans and mainly people that grew up around the genre in the 1990s. Eminems music also got white people that never used to listen to the rap genre listen to it. His style of music is very graphic and explicit so its part of the rap genre but its rap in his own way. By looking at the track names you can also see at a glimpse, you can see what sort of material both the genre and the artist have to offer and put in their work.

Representation- The picture is

showing Eminem sitting with his head in his hands giving a very sad and depressing feel and representation. This could be reflecting what the album is going to be like or based around. Also he is sitting alone on stage but not at the front of it, more behind the curtains, in the dark which is representing he wants to be left in the dark alone, but people want to see him centre stage. The spot light is also peering on to the curtain, almost searching for Eminem but not finding him and instead he is sitting in the dark which is representing that people want to see him and always have him in the spotlight but he just wants to be left alone almost like he just wants to get on with his life. The back cover has curtain up and curtain close on the track which is unusual because on stage the artist usually performs and en core at the end which here he doesnt name or perform which represents that he just wants to get it done with, give the audience what they want and then go.

Enigma- A major question that could be

asked on this album cover is why has the artist chose to sit in-between two open stage curtains while looking very depressed and down? Also, why did the artist choose to use a stage theme or feel to their album art?

Artist- Looking at the front cover, you

can see that the artist is in the centre of the picture and is sitting looking very down and depressed. He isnt in the direct line of the spotlight but is in the light. He is wearing a black suit which is related to death and depressing themes, but he is sitting between red velvet curtains which represent that even though he sometimes is quite depressing and dark he also can show love and affection to both his audience and everyone else. He is also sitting in the dark but the spotlight is almost searching for him which shows that even though he wants to be left alone in the dark people or the media still want him in the spotlight but he is trying to avoid it.
