SECOND WIND CORE VALUES

GOD – Life is all about God. He created us for the express purpose of knowing Him.

5. Why is this an important starting place?

6. How would our culture fill in this blank: Life is all about _______________________.

7. Has this core value ever experienced a “shift” in your life? When and why?

9
THE BIBLE – The Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God; foundational to our
quest of joining Jesus in his life and mission.

8. Why should the Bible be the foundation for who we are and what we do?

9. If we do embrace this core value personally and collectively, how will that affect our interaction
with the Bible?

RELATIONSHIPS – We were made for relationship – with God, with other Christ followers, and
with those we seek to engage with the gospel. Grace, truth, love, and authenticity form the context
for those relationships.

COMMUNITY – Since God functions in community (i.e. – the Trinity), we should as well. It is our
conviction that people grow most effectively when doing life together.

10. What strikes you about the relationships the early believers had with one another?

11. Can we experience this simply on Sunday morning or Sunday night? Why or why not?

SERVICE – God gives gifts to every follower of Christ in order to serve the body and engage in
the mission.

12. Read I Corinthians 12:4-7; 11-22 – What would others say is your spiritual gift?

13. What would happen in a church if everyone identified and exercised their spiritual gift?

REFLECTION (Read Acts 2:47b)

14. What was responsible for this fellowship of early believers growing daily? Is there any relevance
of that for us today? Is so, what?
