Case study Double page analysis

On page 14 of the Bliss magazine is a double page spread of the girl group Little Mix ; an image of the group covering both sides of the double page spread accompanied with a little section of text it was a great idea having the girl group as not just the centre of this double page spread but however filling the entire background as the publisher is once again however even more clearly indicating that Little Mix is the main feature of this issue of their magazine the photography used is a blow up medium close up image of the group this leaves no space for any other artist/band which was the publishers aim. Within this double page spread a mid-long shot has been used and taken from a reasonable distance so that their face expressions are explicitly obvious however being able to show also their clothing as the idea of this double page spread is to capture the audience into having an insight of where Little Mixs sense of trend and dress comes from and where they brought their garments from , as this may appeal to some young girls who are very big fans and like to imitate the different individuals within the group. They have used a range of props such as a classic vintage coach from the 50s era, Jewellery (sophisticated/simplistic however the incorporation of spikes representing dangerous / punk) affiliated music and clothing trend also the use of a sparkling shirt tie worn by one of the members on their clothing shows that as a group with all their similarities and differences put together this helps them to stand in the music industry as they are not just familiar with one type of way going about their style of

music however they are aware of many different music genres and trends and can find a way to put them all together and become unique as a girl group. The masthead uses on this double page spread is If I were a boy below this there is information provided as to why the masthead has been worded in this manner this is almost an illustration as it describes what the young girls in the group are wearing and the theme behind their type of dress on that particular day the description also talks about their different date disasters and boy- brained banter. In the top right hand corner in white and black font rested on a dark red tab background reads Bliss Exclusive which is used to help remind the reader they are the main focus of this magazine; the structure of the double spread page is well laid out and very neat with the information linked to the background image captivated to one side of the double page spread in small black font against a pure white boxed background. This double page spread helps to show that it is Little Mixs time to shine as the double page spreads after this page 14 and 15 is all to do with them singularly almost written about each member as a fact file of their opinions in certain situations linked to boys mid shot image have been taken of all the members individually on the right hand side of each page once again the page layout is very simplistic however this works as it is said Less is more.
