The climate in Greece had hot, dry summers, in the Spring it is rainy and also in the Fall. In the winter it is chilly and rainy. The weather hasnt changed over the years.

ANCIENT GREECE
geography
Greece is a peninsula, it is surrounded on three sides of water and sea travel is made easy. They had big mountains and caves. They believed the on mount olympus. Greece is home to a series of volcanoes. The Corinth canal is 4 miles long and is used for shipping purposes.

INTERESTING FACTS The asclepius wand is a symbol for healing the sick with medicine. The Sun Cross is a sun and four seasons.

Culture and Social Needs


They eat sh, make bread and cheese from goats milk. They have grapes, gs, and olives. They make homemade wine. They buy meat from cook shops. They dont eat much meat because its for religion. Most people made their clothes because the marketplace was too expensive. Their clothes were made from wool or linen. They dyed their clothes bright colors or bleached them white. When girls made clothes they decorated them. The boys were trained by the mom or slave until age 6 then went to primary school. People thought that playing music honoured the gods. Greek instruments were pipes, drums, lyres and cymbals. A lyre is like a harp and sounds like a guitar.

Government
The Government was ruled by local Kings. There were three forms of government. Monarchy- ruled by the King Obligarchy- ruled by a small group. Democracy- ruled by citizens voting. they needed to be 18 years.

Social Needs (sports, arts, and education)


They play sports in the gymnasiums and they want to be healthy, and keep t so they could carry the heavy armour. the most important sports festival was the olympic games. The Olympics take place every 4 years to honour Zeus, the father of the gods. Pots of Fire were found in Ancient Greece and they tell us stories because pictures are painted on these pots.

Physical Needs (Homes, food and Clothing)


The houses were made of wood, clay bricks, and stone. They had two or three rooms that were built around a courtyard. People spent lots of time in the courtyard and they cooked there too.
