Calculation of Pc value using GeoStar

After loading all stage data, press the void ratio graph button from the graph panel. The void ration graph will be displayed on the graph panel. Now, press expand button and you will be taken to the following screen.

Now, you need to calculate the Pc value. To do that, we need to draw a tangent from the point of inflection on the curve . This is done by 1. Clicking the button Line and, 2. placing the mouse cursor at any point and draw the point into a line, while holding the left mouse button. After the line is drawn, if it is not making a tangent at the required point, hold the left mouse button while holding the top or bottom point of the line drawn and move the slope of the tangent in such a way, that the tangent passes through the point of interest.

Now, click the cursor 1 button. You will get the cursor placed on the graph panel as below.

Move the horizontal cursor to the point of inflection and draw a second line passing through the point of inflection parallel to x axis., as shown.

And then press the button draw bisector and you will get the bisector drawn automatically as below.

Now, draw the second tangent as shown.

And move the vertical cursor to the point where the second tangent cuts the line bisecting the angle.

Now, the vertical cursor where it cuts the x- axis is the Pc value which is taken for reporting. This value is shown in the box adjoining the cursor button.
