Tutorial 8: Object linking and Embedding Embedding: Places a copy of an object into a document and remembers which program created the object. In-place editing is editing the embedded object. To embed without opening you would use the Insert Object menu command. To embed part of a file you would use Paste Special. Altering the icon of image allows you to change pictorial representation.
