Right click the device or folder you want to search Click search on start menu Click search on standard toolbar

Can open a file from search results window by:


Right click and click open Click file and press enter Double click file

Can search for part of a file name using a Wildcard
* to replace several spaces ? to replace one space

Can use multiple search criteria


Have to enter a range for Modified date search.

Can search specific folders or drives.

Objects can be
graphics, charts, sounds, text, etc. Multimedia documents can contain video, graphics and even text. Characteristics are properties Source File: file containing the original object Destination File: file you insert object into Destination Program: Program that created the document into which you are inserting the object Source Program: Program that created the object

Tutorial 8: Object linking and Embedding
Embedding: Places a copy of an object into a document and remembers which program created the object. In-place editing is editing the embedded object. To embed without opening you would use the Insert Object menu command. To embed part of a file you would use Paste Special. Altering the icon of image allows you to change pictorial representation.

Linking: Insert a representation of the object, link to an object that is stored somewhere else.
Editing this linked object will also change source object. Maintains only one copy of the object.
