The Multimedia Box

In the multimedia box an image, a movie or a sounds can be displayed. The content, i.e. the image, movie or sound of the multimedia box is stored in an external file. This file must be accessible at the client's computer. The best way to achieve this is to put the files on a server share and map this share to the same drive letter on each of the client computers. Movies and sound are played as long as the box is visible. This allows to to turn it on and off. The following formats should work on a standard installation: Image: jpg, gif, png, bmp. Movie: wmv, mpg, avi. Sound: wav, mp3. The files are played using Microsoft Windows Media Player. For information what formats are supported see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992. The multimedia box is a Box. It can be contained in Screens and Container Boxes. It cannot contain other elements.

Parameters of the multimedia box


name Name of the box for documentary purposes. (Legal input: any string) Has frame If this option is checked, then a small black frame is drawn around the box. The area in which the plot items are drawn is reduced accordingly. box position parameters The parameters for name, frame and position of boxes are equal for all boxes and explained on the Box page Display condition The box is shown if this field is empty or if the condition is this field is TRUE. (Legal input: Boolean expression in subjects table.) File name File name of the content. Maintain aspect ratio If the image as to be stretched, it is stretched equally in horizontal as well as in vertical direction. Enlarge to fit If the image is smaller that the box, it is enlarged. Shrink to fit If the image is bigger that the box, it is scaled down.

Volume [0..100] Volume of the sound. Default is 00. Start after [sec.] Normally, movies and sound start immediately after the box is displayed, i.e. Usually at the start of the stage. With this option the start of the movie or sound can be delayed. Do repeat The movie or sound is repeated indefinitely. Allow user control The user gets a control to move the movie or sound back and forth.
