Militia women Pilar (Ana Belen) and Floren Victoria Abril) are joined by former prostitute Charo (Loles Leon) and former nun Maria (Ariadna Gil). Even as the working class militants demolish the citadels of orthodoxy shouting "down with Capitalism" and "long live the libertarian revolution", Pilar and friends find themselves fighting against gender inequality which complicates their efforts in the war against the Franco's fascist forces.

The film is a gripping film documentation of the upsurge among the poorest of the poor women in Bundelkhand and neighbouring areas of North India as the fiery women of the Gulabi Gang empower themselves and take up the fight against gender violence, caste oppression and widespread corruption.

Language: English Director: Jonathan Kaplan Written by Tom Topor, the film is based on the reallife gang rape of Cheryl Araujo that occurred at a bar in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on March 6, 1983. Starring Jodie Foster and Kelly McGillis, it is one of the first Hollywood films to speak in a direct manner about the web of legal and social questions in dealing with the crime of rape and the victim's quest for justice.
