A VIDEO DOCUMENTARY
AUTHENTIC DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

GOAL
You are to come up with promotional video that raises awareness about social entrepreneurship. Show in the video how social entrepreneurship can change paradigms about businesses that businesses can raise prots, but more importantly, they can actually and concretely be catalysts for change in society. Businesses should promote not simply economic development but authentic development i.e. integral and sustainable.

ROLE
You are in partnership with the community farmers and social entrepreneurs of the Enchanted Farm of Gawad Kalinga. Having the skills and resources, you are tapped to raise more awareness about social entrepreneurship, and how it promotes authentic development in our country.

AUDIENCE
Your target audience are people in general, but more especially, people of your generation and those who are aspiring businessmen.

SITUATION
At present, people have the notion that businesses are primarily for prot. In other words, one starts a business to raise money. If one has resources, skill and knowledge, it is just right that s/he can set up a business and make a living out of it. However, also at present, there are many people in our country who are living below the poverty line. Even if they have the skills, it will be hard for them to stand up on their own if they dont have the resources. Social justice compels us to turn our attention to those who are unfortunate and neglected in society because development becomes authentic only if it promotes the good of every person and the whole person especially the poorest and the most neglected in society. In light of this, there is, therefore, a need to change our general understanding of businesses. It should not just be about prot anymore. As part of society, and in solidarity with those who do not have, those who have the resources should share with the less fortunate. Only then, can our countrys development be truly authentic.

PRODUCT
Come up with a 5-6-minute documentary/promotional video that raises awareness about your product that is a result of practice of social entrepreneurship. But more than the product, highlight how authentic development is practiced and lived out in the Enchanted Farm. Show how the lives of the people who are involved (farmers or entrepreneurs) are affected by the practice of social entrepreneurship. Furthermore, each member should come up with a testimony of how social entrepreneurship promotes authentic development. These will be integrated in the video to strengthen the message that you want to communicate. Make sure that the groups testimonies are coherent to the message you are getting across.

Other matters: 1. Divide your social entrepreneurship project group into two. One group will focus on the lives of the community farmers, while the other will focus on the lives of the social entrepreneurs. 2. Include the credits of your video towards the end. It should be clear who did what part of the output. Credits are outside the 5-6-minute limit. 3. Upload your video to YouTube. This means that you have to provide a creative title for your video. It is highly recommended that you make your video private i.e. it can be viewed only by those who have the link, but you still have to option to make it public. 4. Teacher will provide a Google Document where you will paste your links.
