:10CS004 Language Lab Session 1: Issues in English-Animal Rights, Level 4 In the first session, Animal Rights was covered in Issues in English. It highlighted the immense need of animal rights in our world. Today, the animals are not treated at par with humans, they are believed to possess a lower stature and thus their rights are ignominiously neglected. It was a heart-wrenching session showcasing the cruelty that the animals face and the vital point being, that we, the humans are responsible for this execrable act. Animals are hunted and poached for variety of reasons across the world. This has led some species to extinct and many others are on the verge of extinction. There are various organizations and NGOs working on safeguarding and quoting the importance of the animal rights, so that animals can live with dignity and we have a rich fauna securely preserved in their habitat. This session was relevant as each one of us has to play our role in guaranteeing a safe and secure life for animals. It substantially helped in invoking a sense of treating animals equivalence to humans and thus, proved useful too. The session began with a listening activity, which was followed by exercises comprising of comprehension, cloze, synonyms, antonyms, definitions, grammar and pronunciation. All the exercises were useful in one regard or the other and helped in the meticulous check up of the listening skills. Yes, definitely I will like to practice such exercises in future sessions. I contemplate that the session can be more interesting if we get at least 2 periods per session instead of winding up everything within 1 period.
