Basic Algebra: Point-slope Formula

Point-slope form of a line is:

y y1 m x x1 where m is the slope of the line and the ordered pair, x1 , y1 is a point on the line.
Example 1 Use the point-slope formula to find the equation of the line. a. slope is 3, passes through (-2, -4) Video

b. slope is -4, passes through (-1, 5)
