1. Torn muscle.

Lifting a very heavy load may cause a sudden pull in the muscle which may result in the breaking of the tendon. This is called torn muscle. Surgery is needed to repair the torn muscle. 2. Muscle Strain. A strained muscle is the result of long hours of work or physical activity which makes the muscle ache. This is not a serious injury. A good rest will remove the muscle ache. 3. Muscle Bruise. A muscle bruise occurs when the muscle bumps against a hard object or when the muscle receives a blow. The bruise muscle develops a black and a blue spot caused by the blood from the

ruptured muscle. To prevent more swelling and pain, apply a cold compress on the injured part. 4. Muscle Cramp. A cramp is an uncontrolled shortening of one or more muscles. It is a contraction of the muscles which is painful. Cramps may occur during hard and long work especially when there is a heavy sweating and loss of body salts. To relieve the pain, rub the injured part to make it warm. This will help the blood to circulate. 5. Muscular Dystrophy. Muscular dystrophy includes a series of muscular disease due to the weakening of the muscles that holds the bones together.

Dystrophy is inherited and shows early in life. The disease starts with the weakness of the thigh and pelvic muscles. It causes difficulty in standing, walking, and climbing. Simple exercises are good cure for the early symptoms of muscular dystrophy. 6. Myopathy. Toxic substances are the major causes of myopathy. These can poison the muscles. Myophaty weakens and degenerates the muscles. Avoiding alcohol is a good prevention for myopathy. 7. Myasthenia Gravis. This disease is characterized by too much fatigue and weakness. If starts by the drooping of the

eyelids and double vision. People with myasthenia gravis may experience difficulty in speaking. Their mouth muscles become so weak that they cannot complete a sentence. Certain drugs may cure the disease. 8. Muscular Rheumatism. When the sheaths or bundles of muscles are inflamed, muscular rheumatism or lumbago occurs. The muscles that are most commonly affected are located at the lower back. This usually occurs among adults. Moderate exercise and application of hot compress may relieve the pain.
