who spurned the love of Echo, so enamored of his own beauty. He spent his days admiring his own image reflected in a pool of water.

to Psychoanalyst (Sigmund Freud)narcissistic is to describe people who show an exaggerated sense of self importance and preoccupied with receiving attention.

They have unreasonable sense of self importance. So preoccupied with the themselves that they lack

sensitivity and compassion for others.


Grandiosity exaggerated feelings and their fantasies of

greatness compassion for other people.


They arent comfortable unless someone admiring them.
They require and expect great deal of attention the

best table in restaurant, the illegal parking space in front of movie theatre.

Diagnostic criteria
1)

Has a grandiose sense of self-importance(eg; exaggerates achievement and talents, expect to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements). Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love. Believes that he or she is special and unique and can be only understood by, or should be associate with, other special or high status people.

Causes and treatment


Kohut (1971,1977) believes that it arises largely from a

profound failure of modeling empathy by the parents very early in a childs development. Treatment is extremely limited in the report of success. When therapy is attempted these individuals often focuses on their grandiosity, hypersensitivity to evaluation, and lack of empathy to others. Cognitive therapy aims at replacing their fantasies with a focus on the day pleasurable experiences that are attainable. Coping strategies such as relaxation training are used to help them face and accept criticism.

Clinical description: OBSESSIVE- COMPULSIVE

psychological profiles of many serials killer obsessive-compulsive personality disorder.


Ferreira(2000) does not often fits the

definition of someone + severe mental illness( schizophrenia) but are master in control in manipulating their victims.
It also common to find (OCPD) in gifted

children whose quest for perfectionism can be quite debilitating.

DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA
1)

Preoccupied with details, rules, lists, order, organization, or schedule to the extent that major point of the activity is lost.

Shows perfectionism that interferes with the task completion. Eg: unable to complete a project because his or her own overly strict standards are not met.

3) Is over conscientious,, scrupulous, and inflexible about

the matter of morality, ethnics or values.( not accounted for by cultural or religious identification)

DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA
4) Is unable to discard worn-out or worthless objects even when there are no sentimental value. 5) Is reluctant to delegate tasks or to work with others unless they submit to exactly his or her way of doing things. 6)Adopts a miserly spending style toward both self and others; money is viewed as something to be hoarded for future catastrophes. 7) Shows rigidity and stubbornness.

Causes and treatment: OBSESSIVE- COMPULSIVE


Seem to be a week genetic contribution. Some may require parental reinforcement of conformity

and neatness.
These individual are often afraid that what they do will

be inadequate so they procrastinate and excessively ruminate about important issues and minor details alike.
Therapist help the individual to relax or use distraction

techniques to redirect the compulsive thoughts.
