Edward Scissorhands:

The opening of Edward Scissorhands begins by playing creepy background music, which creates an immediate effect of horror that continues in the rest of the opening. Zoom Shots are used on the door which helps create tension as the music supports it and makes the audience wonder what horrors lie beyond the door. The practical darkness that is used creates a horrific atmosphere, which further reinforces the sense of horror created earlier in the opening whilst the tilting credits that begin to appear on screen draw the attention of the audience. Another Zoom Shot is used which focuses on a keyhole creating a sense of mystery which leaves the viewers freaked out as to what is lying behind the door. The scene then changes to the outside of a building where it is nighttime. The snow that is falling during the blackness of the night creates a horrific contrast that creates tension as the opening ends.
