An embedded system consists of hardware and software. When chips are built into systems and software is loaded on that for a particular functionality, it becomes an embedded system.

Embedded systems are the micro-processor/micro-controller based computing/control systems which are designed to perform a specific or a set of tasks.

a single system can perform variety of operations. System designer decides the features and their strength. Bulky and costly. e.g. Personal computers, Laptops etc.

Embedded systems
Designed to perform a specific task. i.e. a limited operations. Features of the system are constrained. Comparatively optimized.
