TABLE OF CONTENTS
The staff of Fire Protection Publications (FPP) at Oklahoma State University and the Executive Board and delegates of the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) are pleased to present to you the 2013 IFSTA Fire Service Training Materials Catalog. The contents of this catalog illustrate the growing breadth of resources that IFSTA/FPP is developing to meet all of your fire service training and educational needs. This catalog features information on several new manuals and instructional materials released in the previous year. They include Fire and Emergency Services Instructor (8th edition), Pat Brocks Fire Protection Hydraulics and Water Supply Analysis (3rd edition), and Murgallis and Phelps Command and Control, Volume 1 (2nd edition). Just as exciting as the new books released in 2012 was the introduction of the IFSTA ResourceOne (http://r1.ifsta.org/) website. ResourceOne provides a one-stop resource forinstructors and organizations wanting to train students usingIFSTA materials. ResourceOne is the ultimate source for traditional, blended, and online training. Lesson outlines and PowerPoint presentations for most of the major IFSTA manuals can be accessed from ResourceOne free of charge! Numerous other resources are available from the site as well. Without question, the most exciting information that you will find in the 2013 IFSTA Fire Service Training Materials Catalog involves the much anticipated release of the 6th edition of Essentials of Fire Fighting (E-6). IFSTA/FPP has distributed nearly 2.2 million copies of this manual since the release of the first edition in 1978. This clearly makes it the most widely used, influential, and trusted training publication in the history of the North American fire service. The E-6 manual is once again available in two versions. Essentials of Fire Fighting contains 21 chapters that cover all of the fire fighting job performance requirements contained in NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, 2013 edition. Essentials of Fire Fighting and Fire Department Operations contains 24 chapters. The first 21 are the same as the basic edition. However, the expanded edition has three additional chapters that cover the first aid requirements contained in NFPA 1001 and both the First Responder Awareness and Operations Levels of NFPA 472, Standard for Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Incidents. You will also find that the suite of materials accompanying Essentials (6th edition) far exceeds any other fire training manual support materials ever developed. The quantity and quality of the instructional, electronic learning, and other supplemental materials that have been developed to support Essentials (6th edition) are unparalleled, groundbreaking, and beyond anything previously released to the fire service. Everything that could possibly be needed to deliver an effective traditional or blended learning course for Fire Fighter I and II is included in this suite of materials. All you need to do is to provide the instructor, students, and classroom/training site. We have done the rest. As we enter into our 80th year as the Dean of fire service training material providers, headquartered at the West Point of the Fire Service (OSU), rest assured that we are not simply resting on our laurels. We continue to ensure that you have all of the most up-to-date training resources available anywhere. Do not just listen to what we say; watch what we do. We do not just talk-the-talk, we walk-the-walk! It is time to get busy out there. Do it safely and keep the faith!

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES

Respiratory Protection for Fire and Emergency Services is divided into two sections: the first deals with administrative topics and the second with operational topics. While all of the information is needed for a comprehensive understanding of respiratory protection, the first section may be of greater value to personnel who must select, purchase, and maintain respiratory protection in addition to facepiece fit testing. The operational section is directed toward the operational use, maintenance, and wearing of respiratory protection, along with emergency scene topics that interest the emergency responder. Fire and emergency services organizations (public or private) must have an established respiratory protection program, including guidelines for use, maintenance, facepiece fit testing, and training. It is the intent of this manual to provide the necessary direction for such organizations in meeting the requirements for a respiratory protection program. OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY, HEALTH, AND WELLNESS

The 3rd edition of the IFSTA Occupational Safety, Health, and Wellness manual is intended to provide an overview of programs, policies, procedures, and actions that will establish and maintain a culture of safety within the fire and emergency services. By addressing fire and emergency service administrators, supervisors, and emergency responders, it is hoped that a new culture based on safety, health, and wellness concerns can be instilled in emergency responders. The basis for this manual is NFPA 1500, Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program. Additional standards are listed in the Introduction and in Appendix A. This manual is also a companion to the IFSTA Fire Department Safety Officer manual. As is apparent from the expanded title, the 3rd edition includes more than safety-related information. After discussing the risks faced by fire and emergency services personnel, the manual analyzes the dominant culture that contributes to current levels of injuries and fatalities. Methods for creating a new safetybased culture grounded on changes in personal behavior and organizational change are recommended. The manual then lays out the requirements for health and fitness programs, as well as training, apparatus, tool and equipment, protective clothing, emergency scene, and facility safety. Finally, an outline for developing and implementing a safety, health, and wellness program is provided. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HANDBOOK
The Emergency Management Handbook (1st edition) provides a groundwork on which emergency services can build a strong foundation for disaster and emergency management and homeland security in the 21st century. Many relatively new requirements, standards, rules, policies, regulations, presidential directives, and laws exist. The main focus of the handbook is to address the requirements of NFPA 1600, Standard on Disaster/ Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs (2007), as a minimum and build on them to provide even more information to the reader. The Emergency Management Handbook was written by emergency management planning professionals for emergency management practitioners, managers, professors, and students along with the news media and the general public. It addresses the issues, policies, questions, best practices, and lessons learned through recent years. Several appendices, a bibliography, and a glossary are included. A bonus CD-ROM disc containing additional reference documents completes the manual. RESCUE
PRINCIPLES OF VEHICLE EXTRICATION
Fire and emergency services personnel provide more than just fire protection. They are often called to extricate patients from vehicles (automobiles, trucks, buses, trains, etc.) that have been involved in accidents. Occasionally, these incidents involve situations where vehicles may have entered water or structures, or are hanging from overpasses or bridges. Rescue personnel may also have to extricate patients who have become entrapped in machinery or amusement park rides. The 3rd edition of Principles of Vehicle Extrication addresses Sections 6.4.1 and 6.4.2 of NFPA 1001 (2008); Chapter 4, Chapter 5 (Sections 5.1 through 5.5), and Chapter 10 of NFPA 1006 (2008); and Chapters 4, 8, and 12 of NFPA 1670 (2009). The 3rd edition of Principles of Vehicle Extrication contains updated information on the hazards presented by extrication operations, vehicle extrication incident management, vehicle anatomy, passenger restraint systems, vehicle extrication tools and equipment, hybrid-powered vehicles, machinery extrication situations and procedures, and emergency medical system considerations at extrication operations. NEW EDITION
INTRODUCTION TO FIRE ORIGIN AND CAUSE
IFSTA and FPP often publish materials to help firefighters meet certification requirements, but we also acknowledge that training doesnt end with certification. Introduction to Fire Origin and Cause (4th edition) is a manual designed to train fire fighters beyond the certification level and make them better qualified. The manual addresses key sections of NFPA 1001 (2013 edition) and NFPA 1021 (2009 edition) that focus on a fire service responders responsibility to begin the process of fire investigation. This includes determining where a fire began and how it started. The manual is intended for firefighters and company officers who may be called upon to protect evidence that may be of value to an investigation or begin the investigation of the fire themselves. The manual packs a lot of valuable information into seven chapters including fire behavior, scene security, scene safety during investigation, protection and collection of evidence, fire pattern identification and analysis, and origin and cause determination. The manual is accompanied by a curriculum including lesson outlines, PowerPoint presentations, and chapter tests and quizzes. PLANS EXAMINER FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES

This manual was developed for personnel who serve their communities by ensuring that construction projects meet applicable fire and building codes and standards. It addresses the job performance requirements (JPRs) of Plan Examiner I, and (to some extent) Plan Examiner II as outlined in Chapters 7 and 8 of NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner (2003). While the structure of this manual reflects the standard, the material in each section is drawn from a variety of sources. The manual only partially addresses Plan Examiner II since an in-depth review of sprinkler or fire alarm shop drawings is not included. A glossary, three appendices, and a bonus disc CD-ROM containing numerous samples and examples complete the manual. Please note: This manual also comes with a sample set of blueprints that are referenced in various chapters throughout the book. FORENSIC FIRE SCENE RECONSTRUCTION

By David J. Icove, John D. DeHaan, and Gerald A. Haynes Forensic Fire Scene Reconstruction (3rd edition), describes and illustrates a new systematic approach for reconstructing fire scenes, applying the principles of fire protection engineering along with those of forensic science and behavioral science. Modern fire investigation topics are covered, including comprehensive documentation, hypothesis testing, and defensible reconstruction of the events leading up to the fire and its final results. Delving deep into forensic fire engineering, Forensic Fire Scene Reconstruction covers engineering calculations, fire modeling and also features several exhaustive case studies which leverage the current technology that is explained in depth throughout the text. Several specialized topic areas are also covered, including use of the drone aircraft, forensic and panoramic photography, computer modeling as well as an advanced discussion of tenability. Using historical fire cases and realistic case examples, the authors examine the newest lessons learned and insight into the ignition, growth, development, and outcome of those fires. All documentation in the case examples follows or exceeds the methodology set forth by NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations and its companion standard NFPA 1033, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator, 2009 Edition, and Kirks Fire Investigation (7th edition). For Example: Your department has 7 computers available for training one being a laptop used with a projector by instructors for classes in their training room. All computers are connected to a server on a Local Area Network (LAN). They want to get our Pumping Apparatus CBT course series. The CBT courses must be accessible from all of their computers and they will have up to two students playing the same course at the same time. They have determined that no more than 4 students will need to access the system at the same time. Here is what they will need to make things work the way they want: 1. Pumping Apparatus initial course licenses: 5 courses = $1,220 (page 22) 2. 5 additional concurrent course licenses for the pumper series = $200 3. ILMS software licenses: AdministrateIT & first LearnIT seat = $750 plus 3 additional LearnIT seats, 3 x $575 = $1,725 for a total of $2,475 4. Annual service contract = $299

Total = $4,194

If they want to add ATS HAZMAT Response series in the future here is what they need: 1. HAZMAT Response initial course licenses: 7 courses = $1,680 (page 39) 2. 7 additional concurrent course licenses = $280 3. ILMS software licenses: $0 one time purchase unless capacity need changes.

Total = $1,990
