Movie analysis: The Author


The author of the Life of Pi is Yann Martel he travels to India where he meets a man named Francis
Adirubasamy in a coffeehouse in Pondicherry.He claims that he needs inspiration which he refers the author piscine patel in Toronto who immediately begins to tell his own story the author is tired and unhappy when he arrives in india with his current progress on a novel,he decides it isnt working and mails the notes for it to a fake address in Siberia. He ponders his novel in Pondicherry he thinks the man is a religious kook. Francis however refers the author to a man in Toronto by the name of Patel. He arrives there and begins to get the story from Patel.

The Characters
Piscine Patel (Pi) - is a teenage Indian boy with his father ran a zoo and he practices a three major religions his father gives him about animals is key to his surviving in a lifeboat Richard Parker a 450 pound tiger and 227 day companion to Pi on the life boat,Richard becomes not only Pis archnemesis but his closest friend and only reason to stay alive on the boat. Francis Adirubasamy - A close friend of the Patel family and a world class swimmer and who is responsible for Pis name as well as sending the author to Toronto to hear Pis story. Pis Father - zookeeper with strong political views and a habit of teaching his son all that he can about animals and their psychology. He dies after the ship sinks.

Settings:
Pis father works at the Pondicherry Zoo he is a zookeeper and he told his son to come along with him,at the age of 16 Pis father decides to go at Winnipeg Canada with his family along with his animals in the same boat.But while there along the journey to north America the boat sanks in the middle of the ocean Pis father didnt survive.Pi and Richard left alive in a shipwreck.
