Rachel Ruelo Correctional Institution for Women

Greetings of Peace!

We, the undersigned fourth year BS Psychology students of Far Eastern University, are currently working on our thesis entitled Aging behind bars: Struggles in Acceptance and Self-Forgiveness among Incarcerated Women.\ it is part of our course requirement in Research Methods in Psychology 2. Our reason for conducting the study is to contribute to the advancement of local studies about imprisoned individuals. In line with this, may we therefore request your cooperation to allow us to conduct our research at Correctional Institution for Women. We would be needing ten incarcerated women with the following criteria: 1. Senior citizen (60 years old and above) 2. Sentenced with life imprisonment 3. Have been incarcerated for a minimum of ten years Each participant would be asked to participate in a semi-structured interview which will last for an hour and a half. With your permission, voice recorders would be used. As to when the interview will be conducted, we will be willing to adjust to the schedule that will be provided to us by the CIW authorities. Rest assured that all the information that we will gather will be held confidential and the study will be conducted with respect to the rules set by the CIW authorities. We are hoping for your favorable response regarding this matter. Thank you. Sincerely yours,
