Drama 8 1 hour classes x 5 days a week= 5 hours x 20 weeks = 100 hours Theatre/Performance Based All times approximate to students speed. Unit October HAUNTED HOUSE Spontaneous Improv: (3 weeks) The first portion of the unit is focused on building spontaneous improv skills and creating spontaneous characterization that they will use in the Haunted House Performances. Make Up/Costume( 1 week) In the last portion introduce technical aspects of Make Up/Costume in preparation for the Haunted House in which students will be required to do their own characters make up/costume. Learner Outcomes 13-22 1,3,5,616 November TYA PERFORMANCE Movement/Speech: (3 weeks) The first portion of the unit focuses on building up the voice and body and learning to use them to create and play with TYA characters. Planned Improv: (1 weeks) Students will be given a TYA piece in which they will have to use planned improv to perform. December THEATRE STUDIES/ SCENE WORK Through this unit students will experience the various eras of theatre. Including week Greek week Canadian week Elizabethan Each week students will learn scenes, sets and acting styles Research, Rehearsal, Performance (2 1/2 week): The unit will end with performances of scenes from their groups assigned period of theatre. To accompany their piece they will have to sketch and appropriate set for their era. Learner Outcomes 17, 4-6, 7-12 3-5, 9 21-25 January ONE ACT PLAYS To finish off the semester students will perform a group produced One Act play (Assigned prior to Christmas Break) One Act Play: (4 weeks) The process will consist of all the major areas learned up to this point including: Play Era Research, Improv/Acting, Sets, Make Up/Costumes.

September ORIENTATION Orientation: ( 4 weeks) The beginning of the year will focus on introduction/review of the basics. Covering personal tasks such as classroom behavior and personal/interpersonal skills. Also covering important basics from Improv/Acting, Movement, Speech, Technical Theatre and Theatre Studies. Building to get all on an equal starting level and creating safe classroom environment.
