Covered the Palestinian community in Paterson, N.J., and Brooklyn and filed audio slide
shows, videos, radio packages and articles to Newyorktorch.com. Reported on stories ranging
from a coast guard rescue during Hurricane Sandy, the hate speech poster war in NYC
subway stations and controversy over the Health Department’s crackdown on hookah bars.
For this work I received honors in class.
Currently examining the surveillance of the New York’s Muslim community by the
New York Police Department for my masters project. Also took classes in war reporting,
radio documentary making and television news production.

Print and web publication covering business, economics and politics in Africa.
Pitched stories and contributed research and reporting for articles including the British
Aerospace scandal in Tanzania and Glencore owned mines in DRC. Published a story on
corruption in Zimbabwean cricket http://bit.ly/rOyV7C. Edited copy and managed daily web
content.
Junior producer, Sky News Television, London, UK. March 2011
Wrote sports articles for the web and the Sky News smartphone app. Compiled stories and as
chief researcher for Formula 1 during the Bahrain protests I collaborated with reporters.
Wrote anchor copy and edited soccer and rugby video for the evening sports segment.
Assisted with live interviews on location.
Tennis Logger, Sky Sports channels, London, UK. June-September,2010/Sept.2011
Chief tennis logger working on the major tennis tournaments including the final of the US
Open. Worked with technicians and producers to coordinate content for the highlight shows.
Taught interns how to operate the digital logging system. Covered the cricket desk for several
weeks.

Skills and Activities


International Cricket and coach: Represented Berkshire and am a playing member of the
MCC. Played for a team in Cape Town, South Africa, for six months (November-April
2008/09) as their designated overseas player. Trained with Western Province.
Sport: Captained my school at cricket and football. Was the youngest student to play for the
senior cricket team (aged 13). Still play to a semi-professional standard.
Cricket coach: Have coached children cricket in London and Cape Town for five years. Also
have coached Afghan refugees.
Language: Arabic (Basic level)
Multimedia: Digital audio/video recording and editing (Photoshop, Bridge, Pro Tools, Final
Cut Pro) social media networking (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Vimeo, Sound Cloud).
