I.

ACSLS SERVER WITH VOLUME ACCESS CONTROL A. Assumptions 1. NetBackup Media Manager software has been installed and configured 2. All network interface ports (including infrastructure) are configured correctly. 3. Netbackup Administrator has network access to systems to be configured and clients needed to verify media server functionality. B. Log into ACSLS server 1. Always use the acsss login for all work except for adding entry to /etc/hosts C. Add media server to /etc/hosts 1. As priv_user or root add the 55 or EBR network IP address to the /etc/hosts with EBR name as alias. Do NOT add any other IPs for this server D. Add media server to Volume Access Control Files 1. Make sure you are logged in as acsss 2. edit /export/home/ACSSS/data/external/access_control/internet.addresses a. Add ONLY the 55 or EBR IP address and name at the bottom of file b. An example: 55.60.6.113 jroptc1t-55 # Optics Media Server 3. Edit export/home/ACSSS/data/external/access_control/users.ALL.allow a. Find the line that starts with the Master server this media server will reside under and append the line, as long as it does not go over 2 lines. If it goes over two lines start another line with master name at the beginning as shown below. b. An example: This shows three media servers that will share media, jroptc1t-55 is new one enbu3-55 jrmbdbq7-55 jroctlb6-55 jroptc1t-55 The first column is the ACSLS owner of the media and the remaining columns are servers that are allowed full access to the media. Activate new server into Access Control a. As acsss user run acsss_config 1. This does not affect any backups running b. Select 6 or the number which is Rebuild Access Control information c. Exit from menu c.

Test a. Find a volume that exists in that ACSLS server via ACSLS -The media volume list for EBR masters can be found at: http://brs-ebr.bst.bls website/EWP/EBR_tapes.xls Log into media server Run /usr/openv/Volmgr/bin/robtest Enter qvol {media ID from step 6a}

BRS Veritas NetBackup Media Server ACSLS Config Job Aid e. This should display back the location for media. If it displays all 0s, check /export/home/ACSSS/log/acsss_event.log on ACSLS for access denied messages 1. Troubleshoot via normal problem resolution methods.

B. Log into ACSLS server 1. Always use the acsss login for all work except for adding entry to /etc/hosts C. Add media server to /etc/hosts 1. As priv_user or root add the 55 or EBR network IP address to the /etc/hosts with EBR name as alias. Do NOT add any other IPs for this server D. Test 2.
