ON THE TITLE MARCHES The name of this book is a symbolic realization of the vision of Faustina Kowalska concerning the Pillars marked M and S though which the ship of the church must pass safely to reach harbor. In this the book accompanies its companion volumes MARKS and MAKINGS and the other titles in the series Cy Pres Doctrines. In the first there is the ARK, in the second A KING, and in this, the third volume, an ARCHE, the Greek word for beginning or rule or leader, and one of the chief words in early philosophy, as in the writings of the pre-Socratic Anaximander. In the seventh volume of the series the titles will be explained in more detail.

OF DEDICATION This work, and my life, my eyes and hands, all of me, are for the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose scribe I am. She is the Genius of the Work. I was converted to Christ on the memorial of her Sorrows and it was she who spoke to my wife-to-be in order that she and I might meet. I owe Mary everything and I thank her once again.
