A NOTE The title MASS works in the same way as the other titles of the series Cy Pres Doctrines. MARKS, MAKINGS, MARCHES and MASS all symbolically realize the prophetic vision of Faustina Kowalska concerning how the church may be saved. In her vision, Peters ship must pass between pillars labeled M and S. The titles of the four books enact this with words beginning with M and ending with S. Between these letters the words ARK, A KING, ARCHE and AS appear, forming a statement of salvation for the Catholic Church, which is filled out in the three remaining volumes, and is explained more fully in the seventh

Four parts of the novel are presented: the preface on moral beauty, with dedications, the ten part outline, and the opening and concluding monologues. It did not seem worthwhile to reproduce the bitter diatribes of the poet, or the dialogues with his friend, but the monologues by the woman who became the poets wife have been chosen as the better part, especially as they invoke the Virgin at the end of the work.
