THINGS TO THINK ABOUT WHEN CONSIDERING OR VIEWING SITES:

Is it appropriate to the concept? Can you get enough time/access for hanging/planning? What type of space would best suit your concept? A commercial space, white cube, artist run or alternative space? What is the target audience? Location transport links, proximity to other galleries, recognized art area? Passing trade. Community links transport costs What is the cost/average length of time for an exhibition? What is the reputation of the space? Who do they show? Who is on their mailing list? How do they advertise/market shows? Have they had any recent reviews? What would you need to do to the space to prepare it for your productions needs? false walls hanging restrictions lighting availability, including natural light electricity considerations - building installations - technical support available Does the gallery take commission on works sold? What are the health and safety issues? accessibility considerations disabled access - Insurance implications - public liability insurance Can you hold a private view? License restrictions? Has it got a bar? Evening access?

THINGS TO REMEMBER:
Organise your time map out a weekly/daily planner for all the days between now and your opening, mark all deadlines in a different colour check deadlines with all external people involved (e.g. labs/framers/press) Ensure folder is kept up to date with all information and presented coherently Plan your press strategy how and where are you going to advertise and promote your exhibition? Plan your private view mailing list, refreshments, comments book, price list, what do your audience see first? Where is all exhibition information kept/displayed? After the opening who is going to invigilate? How can you attract other audiences to your show? Assessments begin to prepare your team presentation approx 30 mins. Who will present? Remember you are going to be assessed on site what are the issues? How can you present the work and process professionally without the aid of technology? Do you want to bring technology to the site? Think about how you want to guide assessors through your space, consider the curators talk in Wolverhampton. But most of all think creatively your presentation should reflect the concept of your production. Stay in contact with one another, have regular meetings and or check-ins
