    Marilyn Hurst is an artist based in White Rock, BC. In the early 1990s, she discovered her creative talents and developed her skills over many years working with a mentor. In 1997, Marilyn and her husband Chris moved to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where their art gallery became very successful and respected over 13 years. Marilyn's paintings are inspired by her experiences in Mexico and reflect the vibrant colors, incorporating landscapes, florals, portraits and abstract works. She now splits her time between painting in Mexico and her studio in White Rock.

    In the early 90's Marilyns' art "career" began to germinate after discovering a hidden reservoir of creative energy. The transition to becoming an artist was a tremendous learning curve, and over the years working exclusively with a mentor Marilyn developed a new found respect for the resolve necessary to make the art profession work for oneself. In 1997 Marilyn and husband Chris MacClure, a 40 year veteran artist, moved to Cabo San Lucas in the Baja. Their 2nd story studio morphed over the next 13 years to become the most respected art gallery in Los Cabos and their golden cactus gallerys' amazing collection of artists and art became the benchmark of excellence for the art community in the southern Baja. Painting and running a gallery in a foreign country provided opportunity to hone painting skills and the excitement of the Mexican culture gave inspiration for the work Marilyns' paintings are a mnage of life experience and creative energy and her landscapes, florals, portraiture and expressionist abstracts all reflect the vibrant colors of Mexico. Recently the gallery in Cabo was sold to allow for more travel and painting time. Marilyn still spends several months painting in Mexico and the rest of the time at her studio in White Rock, B.C.
