BUTTERFLY and BEE GARDENS
OVERVIEW:
‘Although butterflies are attracted to bold, beautifully colored blooms, they prefer flowers
With a simple flare. Single petal flowers and native plants are atthe top of their favorites. These
plants usually contain higher amounts of nectar than hybridized “double flower” plants developed
specifically for looks. Nectar plans, host plants are required fora full butterfly” experience.
Butterfies need warm body temperatures, so a sunny location is best. Most nectar plants
and host plants wil flourish with as litle as 6 hours of sunlight. Buterly puddles and garden rocks
(for sun-bathing) wil also entice butterflies into your garden. A number ofthe plants listed below
have been used on your butterfly garden plan.
