SturStick Zine appoints new creative director


Hamilton, ON. October 18, 2012Hamiltons first and only WomynZine [sic], SturStick, has a new addition to their family. Sadie Wolfe is pleased to accept the role of creative director for the local zine, which promotes advocacy towards women rights issues. We at SturStick are excited to have Ms. Wolfe part of our teama new perspective means newer opportunities to explore within our zine, said Agnes French, SturSticks current president. Wolfe currently holds her Bachelor of Arts in Popular Culture with a minor in Women Studies from Brock University. For the past six years, Wolfe has been a prominent member of the Hamilton art community, specifically womens role in art. Wolfes most notable contribution to the art community is her award winning exhibit, Females on Display, which has toured the world three times. As creative director, Wolfe will oversee all design layouts to ensure a well communicated product. Wolfe will also be responsible for a brand new do-it-yourself section which promotes creativity over consumption. Additionally, Wolfe will manage media, community, and social media relations. I hope to plan more events that strategically promote our message out to Hamiltonians: celebrating females through creativity and communication, Wolfe stated. I get to collaborate two of the most important issues: women rights and the arts. Hopefully I turn our readers into walking advocates to enhance the Hamilton community, Wolfe added.

Since 1990, SturStick WomynZine has been writing about women rights issues and promoting social change in and around the Hamilton area. So far, SturStick has won over 15 (more)

awards and holds the title Zine of the Year for four straight years in a row. SturStick is proud to be part of Hamiltons local art and music scene. The small operations head office is located on James Street North, and houses 25 employees. -30-
